The Son's Rays Group
The Son's Rays are the high-school-aged youth of Redeemer, including 9th through 12th graders. They currently meet 1-2 times during the week. On Wednesday evenings, the group gathers from 6:30 to 7:45 for Bible study, discussion, learning, and fellowship time.
Most weekends, often but not always on Sunday afternoons or evenings, the group also meets primarily for service or fellowship events, with occasional learning programs as well. Planning for this group is done several times a year by the youth in conjunction with adults and parents who have a commitment to the ministries for and by Redeemer's high school youth. All interested youth are invited to planning meetings.
VBS Mission Trip to Virginia
Students in this high-school age group are often quite active in synod youth events as well, including the 9th and 10th grade weekend retreat held annually in January, the 11th and 12th grade retreat held yearly in February, twice-a-year Midlands Conference youth gatherings, the annual convention of the Lutheran Church Youth in SC, usually in June. Redeemer' youth and adults have a history of being active in leadership in conference and synod youth events, with synod youth cabinet members and adult retreat coordinators among the members of Redeemer. Our youth have also been active in the special summer “love projects†of the synod youth, Camp HUGG (Helping Under God's Grace) which staffs a week of camp for mentally challenged youth, and Bridge-Building Camp, where students spend a week with residents from the Lowman Home, building bridges of understanding and love between generations.
